Fourth place for Yupun in Sweden Wanda Diamond League….

Sri Lankan Olympic sprinter Yupun Abeykoon has managed to win fourth place in the 100m race at an international tournament called Wanda Diamond League held in Stockholm, Sweden. That is finishing the game in 10.21 seconds.
South African player Akani Simbin finished the race in 10.02 seconds and was able to toe first place in the race. British athlete Reece Prescod finished the race second and it took him 10.15 seconds. The third race of the race went to the French running champion Jimmy Vicaut who finished the race in 10.19 seconds.
Considered as the fastest runner in South Asia, Yupun holds the South Asian record for 100 meters and Yupun has also been able to set a new Asian record in the 150 meters event. In addition, Yupun has won many international running competitions.

තත්පර 10.02කින් තරගය නිමා කළ දකුණු අප්රිකානු ක්රීඩක Akani Simbinට තරගයේ ප්රථම ස්ථානය හිමි කර ගැනීමට හැකි විය. බ්රිතාන්ය ක්රීඩක Reece Prescod තරගය දෙවනියට අවසන් කර ඇති අතර ඔහුට ඒ සඳහා තත්පර 10.15ක කාලයක් ගත වී තිබේ. තරගයේ තෙවන ස්ථානය තරගය තත්පර 10.19කින් අවසන් කළ ප්රංශ ධාවන ශුර Jimmy Vicaut ට හිමි විය.

சுவீடனின் ஸ்டோக்ஹோமில் நடைபெற்ற வாண்டா டயமண்ட் லீக் என்ற சர்வதேச போட்டியில் 100 மீற்றர் ஓட்டப் பந்தயத்தில் இலங்கையின் ஒலிம்பிக் ஓட்டப்பந்தய வீரர் யுபுன் அபேகோன் நான்காவது இடத்தை பெற்றுள்ளார். அவருக்கு10.21 வினாடிகள் ஒட்டப்பந்தயத்தை முடிப்பதட்கு தேவைப்பட்டது.
தென்னாப்பிரிக்க வீரர் அகானி சிம்பின் பந்தயத்தை 10.02 வினாடிகளில் முடித்து முதல் இடத்தைப் பிடித்தார். பிரித்தானிய தடகள வீரர் ரீஸ் பிரெஸ்கோட் பந்தயத்தை இரண்டாவதாக முடித்தார், அவருக்கு 10.15 வினாடிகள் ஆனது. பந்தயத்தின் மூன்றாவது இடத்தை பிரான்ஸ் ஓட்ட சாம்பியன் ஜிம்மி விகாட் 10.19 வினாடிகளில் முடித்தார்.

Chinese Government Pledges Support for Sri Lanka’s Sports and Youth Development
Colombo: In a significant move towards strengthening sports and youth development in Sri Lanka, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong met with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumar Gamage, and Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara today (26) at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
During the meeting, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong congratulated the newly appointed ministers and reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s sports and youth programs. Discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring actionable initiatives to uplift sports development in the country.

Colombo: Sri Lanka has officially been granted the hosting rights for the 2025 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, set to take place in June 2025. The decision marks a historic moment for Sri Lankan football, as the nation last hosted the tournament in 2008 alongside the Maldives.
The SAFF Championship is widely regarded as the “World Cup of South Asia,” bringing together the best footballing nations from the region. The 2025 edition will feature seven teams:
