One year break for Asian Games!

Published

on

The 19th Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 10 to September 25 at 56 venues in Hanjie, China.

However, the Asian Olympic Council, the organizing body of the Games, has decided to postpone the Games for a year.

This is because the Omicron strain of the Covid 19 virus is spreading rapidly again in China, and the city of Hanjo, where the Games were to be held, is already close to Shanghai, which was on lockdown because of the Covid spread.

The Olympic Council of Asia (AOC) has announced that it has not yet decided on dates for next year’s Games and which will be announced on its official website in the near future. 21 athletes representing Sri Lanka were planned to participate in this year’s Asian Games.
