Upul Tharanga hits first century in SLC Major T20 League 2023

Former Sri Lankan skipper Upul Tharanga smashed a blistering century against Chilaw Marians to guide NCC to a 56-run win in another fixture of the ongoing SLC T20 Major League worked off at Army grounds Panagoda.

After being put into bat first NCC posted 187 rides from the back of a brilliant century by Upul Tharanga.

The 38 year old hit a 67 ball 103 runs to help his team post a healthy total.

In reply, it was a rollercoaster where it never looked easy for Chilaw Marians as only Kasun Vidura managed to put up a spirited fight smashing an unbeaten knock of 80 off 59 deliveries. The rest of the pack failed to impress as a lack of support at the other end put Chilaw Marains on the losing side.

Off spinner Ashian Daniel ripped through Marian’s batting line up claiming 3 for 10 at the end of his quota. Lasith Embuldeniya also shone with the ball claiming a 3fer.

The incident occurred in a match of the National Super League held from April 6 to 9, where the Dambulla side faced Colombo. Wickramasinghe, representing Dambulla, drew attention from match officials, prompting concerns over the legality of his action.
