Sri Lanka level series with a thumping win

Sri Lanka bounced back to level series thanks to top knocks from former skipper Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis, followed by three-wicket hauls from Wanindu Hasranga and Dhananjaya de Silva steered the host to a 132 runs win over Afghanistan in the second ODI of the three-match series on Sunday.

Chasing 324, Afghanistan found some hope with Ibrahim Zadran (54) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (57) scoring half-centuries but a middle-order collapse saw they were bundled out for 191.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva were the bowlers claiming 3-42 and 3-39 respectively.

Earlier opting to bat first Sri Lanka posted a mammoth 323 runs thanks to brilliant knocks from Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis.

Kusal Mendis top scored with a brilliant 78 runs while Dimuth chipped in with 52 runs.

The three-match series is now levelled at 1-1 with the final match will be played on Wednesday.
