The ban on the Sri Lanka Rugby Union has been lifted.
A meeting was held this morning in Dubai between Qais Al Dalai, the President of the Asian Rugby Federation, and Roshan Ranasinghe, the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs. Mr. Qais Al Dalai confirmed that the World Rugby Council had lifted the ban on Sri Lankan rugby during a meeting held in Paris a few days ago. He further stated that the decision would be officially announced.
Additionally, discussions took place regarding the removal of voting rights for associations that do not significantly contribute to the development of rugby. Necessary amendments to the constitution for the future of Sri Lankan rugby were also discussed.
Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe expressed his gratitude to the officials of the World and Asian Rugby Federations for establishing a strong governance structure and providing the opportunity for the Sri Lanka Rugby team to participate in international competitions in the future.
Asarath Dean, Sri Lanka’s International Rugby Coordinator, was also present during this discussion.

ආසියානු රග්බි සම්මේලනයේ සභාපති “කයිස් අල් දලායි” මහතා සහ ක්රීඩා හා යෞවන කටයුතු අමාත්ය රොෂාන් රණසිංහ මහතා අතර හමුවක් අද උදෑසන ඩුබායිහිදී පැවැත්විණි.
ලෝක රග්බි කවුන්සිලය විසින් ශ්රී ලංකා රග්බි ක්රීඩාවට පනවා තිබූ තහනම මීට දින කිහිපයකට පෙර, පැරීසියේ දී පැවති රැස්වීමකදී ඉවත් කළ බව එහිදී කයිස් අල් දලායි මහතා තහවුරු කළ අතර, එම තීරණය නිල වශයෙන් ප්රකාශයට පත් කිරීමට නියමිත බව ද වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේ ය.
තවද, මෙහිදී රග්බි ක්රීඩාවේ අභිවෘද්ධිය සඳහා සැලකිය යුතු දායකත්වයක් ලබා නොදෙන සංගම්හි ඡන්ද අයිතිය ඉවත් කරමින්, ශ්රී ලංකා රග්බි ක්රීඩාවේ අනාගතය වෙනුවෙන් නව උපාය මාර්ගික ක්රමවේදයන් සැකසීම සඳහා ව්යවස්ථාවට අවශ්ය සංශෝධන ඇතුලත් කිරීම පිළිබඳව එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් සාකච්ඡා කර ඇත.
ශක්තිමත් පාලන ව්යූහයක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමටත්, ඉදිරියේදී ජාත්යන්තර තරග සඳහා ඉදිරිපත්වීමට ශ්රී ලංකා රග්බි කණ්ඩායමට අවස්ථාව ලබාදීම පිළිබඳව ලෝක සහ ආසියානු රග්බි සම්මේලනයන්හි නිලධාරීන්ට ක්රීඩා අමාත්ය රොෂාන් රණසිංහ මහතා ස්තූතිය පුද කළේය.
මෙම සාකච්ඡාවට ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ජාත්යන්තර රග්බි සම්බන්ධීකාරක “අසාරත් ඩීන්” මහතා ද එක්ව සිටියේ ය.

இன்று காலை துபாயில் ஆசிய ரக்பி தலைவர் கைஸ் அல் தலாயை சந்தித்ததில் மகிழ்ச்சி. இலங்கை ரக்பி மீதான தடை சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்னர் பாரிஸில் நடைபெற்ற கூட்டத்தில் உலக ரக்பி பேரவையினால் நீக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக ஆசிய ரக்பி தலைவர் உறுதிப்படுத்தினார். இந்த முடிவு உரிய நேரத்தில் அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக அறிவிக்கப்படும் எனவும் தெரிவித்ததார்.
மேலும் இலங்கை ரக்பியின் யாப்பை சரிசெய்யவும், ரக்பி வளர்ச்சிக்கு பங்களிப்பை வழங்காத கிளப்புகள்/மாகாணங்கள் உறுப்பினர்களை மற்றும் ஏனைய அங்கத்தவர்களை வெளியேற்றுவதட்கு தேவையான யாப்பின் மாற்றங்களை கொண்டுவருவதட்கும் கலந்துரையாடப்பட்டது.
திடமான நிர்வாகக் கட்டமைப்பின் கீழ் எதிர்கால சர்வதேசப் போட்டிகளில் பங்கேற்க இலங்கை ரக்பியை வலுப்படுத்தியதற்காக உலக ரக்பி மற்றும் ஆசியா ரக்பிக்கு நான் நன்றி கூறுகிறேன்.
இந்த கலந்துரையாடலில் இலங்கைக்கான சர்வதேச ரக்பி ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் திரு அசரத் டீனும் கலந்து கொண்டார்.

Football Chief Jaswar Umar Enters Race for NOC Presidency
Jaswar Umar, President of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka, has officially submitted his nomination to contest for the presidency of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
