Sri Lanka to taste first win in CAVA Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup 2023

Sri Lanka tasted her first win at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup 2023 defeating Maldives 3-0 in the third and final group stage game in Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday (24).

In the final group ‘B’ encounter, Sri Lanka put on a strong performance, unleashing a barrage of powerful attacks to win in three sets (25-18, 25-13, 26-24).

Thilini chipped in with 14 points, while Ayesha and Kaweesha scored 10 apiece. Hawwa remained the backbone of Maldives to score 11 points on the team’s losing effort.

Kazakhstan captured the top spot in Pool B with 9 points from three wins in a row, while Uzbekistan came in second with 6 points from two wins against one loss. Sri Lanka finished third with 3 points from one win against two losses, with winless Maldives in fourth position with no points earned.
