Autokitz Cricket Club in a comfortable 93-run win against Upcount Cricket Club

Autokitz Cricket Club registered a comfortable 93-run win against Upcount Cricket Club in a  25 overs league Cricket encounter, played at the Gateway Complex ground, Seeduwa, recently. 

Upcount Cricket Club winning the toss, invited Autokitz Cricket Club to take first lease of the wicket, Openers Ravindu Samarasinghe and Janith Jayasinghe, the pair together added a valuable 39 runs for the first wicket and with the dismissal of Janith Jayasinghe (16). The other opener, Ravindu Samarasinghe was associated with two partnerships, 70 runs with one down batter Gaveesha Buddhimal (28 ), 64 runs with two down batter Isurunath Dissanayake and finally was dismissed, as the third batter, scoring a well-compiled 83 runs including 8 fours and 5 sixes in 63 balls at the score at 173. Ishan was the fourth batter to be dismissed at the score of 193 runs on board,  Hasika Chameera joined Isurunath Dissanayake, and the pair steadied the innings with Isurunath Dissanayake, playing a star-studded innings, scoring 51 runs not out including 8 fours in 36 balls and Hasika Chameera supporting his teammate, scoring (15) not out, put them to a commanding position. B.Justin with 2 wickets,  Kishan and  Danu Shan with a wicket apiece was the pick of the bowlers. 

Upcount Cricket Club chasing this challenging total, lost their first wicket at 16 runs on board, the dismissals of other batters at regular intervals and the last 5 batters getting dismissed for 20 runs, Upcount Cricket Club was shot out for 123 runs with Ishan Perera, who had a fine bowling spell, was the wrecker claiming 4 of the last 5 batters,  giving away only 6 runs in his 4 overs. Malka Prabath captured 2 wickets, Sineth Withanage,  Pujitha Gunawardena, Hasika Chameera, and Geesara Dangalla, took a wicket each. Minon 

Deeshan 33 including 5 fours and a six in 21 balls, R. Rohind ( 22 ) and Dhanu Shan,( 28 ), were the batters, who contributed to Upcount Cricket Club to get past the 100-plus mark.

SLC President Shammi Silva and Executive Committee Step Down Effective Today

The President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Shammi Silva, has officially resigned from his position with immediate effect, according to an announcement released by the board today (29).

In a significant development, all office-bearers and members of the Executive Committee have also stepped down from their respective roles, signaling a complete leadership transition within the governing body.

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the decision has been formally conveyed to Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage.

No further details were immediately provided regarding the reasons behind the mass resignation or the process for appointing new leadership.

Sri Lanka Cricket Grants Rs. 10 Million to Rising Javelin Athlete Rumesh Tharanga

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) today provided a financial grant to rising javelin thrower Rumesh
Tharanga Pathirage.

This support was extended under the direction of the SLC President Mr. Shammi Silva and
the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, following a request made by the Minister of
Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage.

Rumesh Tharanga received the grant this evening at the SLC headquarters.
This initiative is part of SLC’s ongoing efforts to support and promote sports beyond cricket,
as well as to assist promising athletes in achieving success at the international level.

Sports Ministry Yet to Confirm Reports of Leadership Change at Sri Lanka Cricket

The Ministry of Sports has not released any official statement regarding speculation over a potential leadership change at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), according to Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage.

Addressing recent media inquiries, the minister clarified that reports suggesting SLC President Shammi Silva could step down and be succeeded by former Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne remain unverified.

“We have not issued any official statement as a ministry on this matter. These claims are currently limited to social media reports,” Gamage said.

He further noted that the ministry intends to address the situation formally in the near future.

“We are planning to hold a media briefing soon and will release an official statement. Further discussion can take place after that,” he added.

The remarks come amid growing public attention over the administration of Sri Lanka’s cricket governing body, though authorities have yet to confirm any changes at the top.
