A tip about the World Cup from India’s ex-coach

Published

on

Former India coach Ravi Shastri believes that the current batsmen in his team at the ICC T20 World Cup are the best he has ever seen.

Shastri was in charge of India in the Twenty20 World Cup held last year. The Indian team won only three of their five matches and failed to qualify for the tournament’s knockout stages.

But with the recent emergence of Suryakumar Yadav and the reintroduction of veteran opener Dinesh Karthik into the middle order, India’s batting line-up has looked more stable for nearly 12 months.

Even with crucial fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah injured, Shastri feels that the Indian batsmen can help the team qualify for the semi-finals this time.

“For the last six-seven years I have been part of the team, first as a coach and now I am watching from the sidelines, I think this is the best line-up India has ever had in Twenty20 cricket.” Shastri made the announcement at an event held at the Mumbai Press Club.

Sri Lanka Under-19 Women extended their impressive run in the Tri-Series with a composed four-wicket victory over Australia Women Under-19 cricket team at Bill Pippen Oval Today.

After being put in to bat, Australia U-19 struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack. Ayla Johnson top-scored with 18 off 29 balls, while Alyssa Dermody added a quick 13. However, regular wickets halted their progress as they finished on a modest 91 for 9 in 20 overs. Limansa Thilakarathne led the bowling effort with an impressive 3 for 26, well supported by Chamudi Praboda, who claimed 2 for 21.

In response, Sri Lanka Women Under-19 cricket team chased down the target with 92 for 6 in 19.3 overs. Despite a few setbacks, Pramudi Methsara anchored the innings with an unbeaten 21 off 17 balls, while Danodya Sewmini contributed a steady 14.
