A special committee to investigate irregularities in the Football Federation

Sports Minister Mr Roshan Ranasinghe has appointed a special committee to investigate the financial control, administration, sports promotion and related issues of the Sri Lanka Football Federation.

Retired High Court Judge Sarojani Kusala Weerawardena is going to chair the said committee.

The committee is going to focus on the following points.

  1. The Football Confederation has been delaying the drafting of its new constitution since 2012.
  2. Financial control of the Football Federation from the year 2018.
  3. Administration of the Football Federation.
  4. Nominal football clubs are formed for the purpose of obtaining votes.
  5. Procedure for recruitment of employees for office work, payment of wages and their role.
  6. Actions and recommendations to be taken for the future development of football.

The special committee has been informed that a complete report containing related observations and recommendations should be received by the Sports Minister within two months.

ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍ය රොෂාන් රණසිංහ මහතා ශ්‍රී ලංකා පාපන්දු සම්මේලනයේ මුදල් පාලනය, පරිපාලනය, ක්‍රීඩාව ප්‍රවර්ධනය හා සම්භන්ධ කරුණු පිලිබදව විමර්ශනය කිරීමට විශේෂ කමිටුවක් පත් කර ඇත.

එම කමිටුවේ සභාපතීත්වය විශ්‍රාමික මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු සරෝජනී කුසලා වීරවර්ධන මහත්මිය විසින් දැරීමට නියමිතය.

එම කමිටුව විසින් පහත කරුණු කෙරෙහි අවධානය යොමු කිරීමට නියමිතය.

  1. පාපන්දු සම්මේලනය 2012 වර්ෂයේ සිට එහි නව ව්‍යවස්ථාව සැකසීමේ කටයුතු ප්‍රමාද කිරීම.
  2. 2018 වර්ෂයේ සිට පාපන්දු සම්මේලනයේ මුදල් පාලනය.
  3. පාපන්දු සම්මේලනයේ පරිපාලනය.
  4. ඡන්දය ලබා ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් පිහිටුවා ඇති නාමික පාපන්දු සමාජ.
  5. කාර්යාල කටයුතු සඳහා සේවකයින් බඳවා ගැනීමේ ක්‍රියා පටිපාටිය, වැටුප් ගෙවීම් සහ ඔවුන්ගේ කාර්යභාරය.
  6. අනාගත පාපන්දු ක්‍රිඩාවේ උන්නතිය වෙනුවෙන් ගත යුතු ක්‍රියාමාර්ග සහ නිර්දේශ.

ඊට අදාළ නිරීක්ෂණ සහ නිර්දේශ ඇතුළත් සම්පූර්ණ වාර්තාවක් මාස දෙකක් ගත වීමට පෙර ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍යවරයා වෙත ලැබිය යුතු බව මෙම විශේෂ කමිටුවට දන්වා ඇත.

இந்தக் குழு பின்வரும் விடயங்களில் கவனம் செலுத்தவுள்ளது.

  1. கால்பந்து கூட்டமைப்பு 2012 முதல் தனது புதிய அரசியலமைப்பை உருவாக்குவதை தாமதப்படுத்தி வருகிறது.
  2. 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் கால்பந்து சம்மேளனத்தின் நிதிக் கட்டுப்பாடு.
  3. கால்பந்து கூட்டமைப்பின் நிர்வாகம்.
  4. வாக்குகளைப் பெறுவதற்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்ட பெயரளவிலான கால்பந்து கழகங்கள்.
  5. அலுவலகப் பணிக்காக பணியாளர்களை ஆட்சேர்ப்பு செய்வதற்கான நடைமுறை, ஊதியம் மற்றும் அவர்களின் பங்கு.
  6. கால்பந்தின் எதிர்கால வளர்ச்சிக்காக எடுக்கப்பட வேண்டிய நடவடிக்கைகள் மற்றும் பரிந்துரைகள்.

இது தொடர்பான அவதானிப்புகள் மற்றும் பரிந்துரைகள் அடங்கிய முழுமையான அறிக்கை இரண்டு மாதங்களுக்குள் விளையாட்டுத்துறை அமைச்சரிடம் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும் என விசேட குழுவிற்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage has accepted the resignation of Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, marking a significant shift in leadership.

Following the resignations, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced that it would assume oversight of cricket administration under the authority granted by the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973. The decision places all operational and administrative matters of SLC under ministerial supervision with immediate effect.

Authorities indicated that the arrangement is temporary and part of a broader effort to stabilise the sport’s administration. A new committee is expected to be appointed in the coming days to examine existing issues and propose structural reforms aimed at improving governance and accountability.

The leadership’s decision to step down was communicated to the government earlier, prompting swift action to ensure continuity in the management of Sri Lanka’s most prominent sport.

In a significant development, all office-bearers and members of the Executive Committee have also stepped down from their respective roles, signaling a complete leadership transition within the governing body.

Sri Lanka Cricket Grants Rs. 10 Million to Rising Javelin Athlete Rumesh Tharanga

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) today provided a financial grant to rising javelin thrower Rumesh
Tharanga Pathirage.

This support was extended under the direction of the SLC President Mr. Shammi Silva and
the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, following a request made by the Minister of
Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage.

Rumesh Tharanga received the grant this evening at the SLC headquarters.
This initiative is part of SLC’s ongoing efforts to support and promote sports beyond cricket,
as well as to assist promising athletes in achieving success at the international level.
