A relief to Sri Lanka by the Asian Football Confederation

Published

on

The Asian Football Confederation imposed a fine of $20,000 on Sri Lanka because the Under-17 National team withdrew from the Under-17 AFC U17 Qualifiers tournament held in Uzbekistan at the last moment. AFC has decided to reduce that fine to $5,000 from $20,000

The AFC disciplinary committee considered the appeal referred by Sri Lanka and decided to reduce it to $5000. The remaining $15,000 is suspended for two years. This means that if the Football Federation of Sri Lanka fails to participate in the international competitions organized by the Asian Football Confederation, the balance amount will be fined.

Arrangements have been made to hold the election of the Football Federation next Saturday, and the activities of the Sri Lanka Federation are under the supervision of the Director General of Sports.
