While extraordinary milestones were not broken during the tournament, Sri Lanka’s impressive win over Pakistan led to the creation of some remarkable records.
Accordingly, here are the first two records broken in the Super 4 match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
- Wanindu Hasaranga becomes Sri Lanka’s second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is.

The right-handed batsman has been a crucial player for Sri Lanka this year and has been a standout batsman in the 2022 Asia Cup. Nishanka has scored 165 runs at an average of 41.2 in the ongoing tournament, taking his 2022 T20I total to 491 runs in 16 matches.
No Sri Lankan player has scored more than 491 runs in one calendar year. He is also the first player from Sri Lanka to score 400+ runs in T20I matches in one calendar year.
Skipper Dasun Shanaka scored a 16-ball 21 on Friday to become the second Sri Lankan to cross the 400-run T20I mark in one year. Shanaka has collected 417 runs in 16 matches so far this year.

In a major development impacting global cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been temporarily suspended for a week, while the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been moved to the UAE due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The decision by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to pause the IPL was announced on Friday, following heightened military activity along the border in the Kashmir region.
