Wanindu Hasaranga to Miss IPL 2024 Due to Injury

Sri Lanka’s talented leg-spinning all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga, will unfortunately be absent from the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 due to a left heel injury.

After being released by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who had acquired him for a staggering INR 10.75 crore in 2022, Hasaranga was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price of INR 1.5 crore.

According to SLC CEO Ashley de Silva, Hasaranga will not be participating in the IPL as he requires rehabilitation after consulting with a podiatrist. De Silva was quoted by a local newspaper saying, “He needs to undergo some rehabilitation after meeting with the podiatrist, which is why he won’t be taking part in the IPL.”

It has been revealed that Hasaranga is expected to travel to Dubai to seek expert advice from a podiatrist in order to effectively manage his troublesome heel.

De Silva further explained, “There is swelling in his heel, and he has been playing with the aid of injections. Therefore, he has made the decision to address this issue before the World Cup and has informed us of his choice to skip the IPL this year.”
