Upul Chandana is set to be named as the fielding coach of the Sri Lankan team for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Zimbabwe.
Chanada will replace Anton Roux who served in the same capacity for almost 18 months.
Upul Chandana, a brilliant fielder and all-rounder appeared for Sri Lanka in 16 Tests and 147 ODIs. And were also a member of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup winning squad.
Meanwhile, Jaffna Kings head coach Thilina Kandamby will serve as the batting coach for the national team during the Series in January.
Kandamby has been a successful coach for Jaffna Kings in the Lanka premier league where the Jaffna boys have claimed the title for 3 straight years.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is looking at another major overhaul of the coaching set-up in the wake of Sri Lanka’s dismal show at the recent World Cup.
In addition to the new faces expected in the positions of assistant coach, fast bowling coach, spin bowling coach and fielding coach, the Board also roped in Sanath Jayasuriya as a full-time consultant for SLC.
SLC also appointed a new Selection committee headed by Upul Tharanga as well.
