Sri Lankan faces in Uganda Cricket!

The competition in today’s cricket is increasing day by day with T20 cricket. Although some people express some critical opinions about league cricket, many other nations have entered the international arena with T20 matches. Among them, the Ugandan cricket team is currently coming forward. Accordingly, after winning the Twenty20 international mandate, they have managed to win twenty-two matches out of the thirty-six matches they participated in.

Simon Ssesazi who has scored seven hundred and eight runs in twenty-three matches has become the most successful batsman in the Ugandan team so far. DM Nakrani has joined the records as their highest wicket-taker with forty-nine wickets in thirty-three matches. The fans of the Ugandan cricket team call them Cranes.

Although they experienced the Twenty20 international in 2019, the Ugandan team gained membership in the International Cricket Council in 1998. Uganda currently has two stadiums suitable for playing international cricket. , defeating countries like Hong Kong can be called revolutionary achievement. Especially the players who were born in Uganda, as well as players of Indian and Pakistani origin, players who came from countries like India, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, have joined the Ugandan team at present.

This year, in particular, they are developing their first-class cricket pattern and preparing themselves for success in the future. Lawrence Mahatlane, who coached the South African Under-19 team, has been appointed as the head coach of the Ugandan cricket team for three years.

Uganda is a country that has been in a lot of discussion with Sri Lanka politically in the past. Meanwhile, another special thing is that the Ceylon Lions Cricket Club has won first place in their first-class cricket tournament. They participated in six matches and won four of them and the team is led by Ruwan Jayaratne, a Sri Lankan. Accordingly, we can expect to see Sri Lankan names and faces in the Ugandan cricket team in the near future.

වර්තමාන ක්‍රිකට් ලෝකයේ තරඟකාරීත්වය විස්සයි විස්ස ක්‍රිකට් සමඟ දිනෙන් දින ඉහළ යමින් පවතී.ලීග ක්‍රිකට් සමඟ යම් යම් විවේචනාත්මක මත සමහර දෙනෙකු පළ කළත්, විස්සයි විස්ස තරඟ සමඟ ජාත්‍යන්තර පිටියට තවත් ජාතීන් රැසක් පැමිණ ඇත. ඒ අතරින් උගන්ඩා ක්‍රිකට් කණ්ඩායම මේ වන විට ඉදිරියට පැමිණෙමින් සිටී. ඒ අනුව ඔවුන් විස්සයි විස්ස ජාත්‍යන්තර වරම් දිනා ගැනීමෙන් අනතුරුව සහභාගී වූ තරඟ තිස් හය අතරින් තරඟ විසි දෙකක් ජයග්‍රහණය කිරීමට සමත්වී ඇත.

මේ වනතෙක් උගන්ඩා කණ්ඩායමේ සාර්ථකම පිතිකරු බවට පත්ව ඇත්තේ තරඟ විසි තුනකදී ලකුණු හත්සිය අටක් ලබා ගෙන ඇති Simon Ssesazi ය. තරඟ තිස් තුනකට සහභාගී වී කඩුළු හතලිස් නවයක් දවා ගෙන ඇති DM Nakrani ඔවුන් සතුව සිටින වැඩිම කඩුළුලාභියා ලෙස වාර්තා අතරට එකතු වී ඇත. උගන්ඩා ක්‍රිකට් කණ්ඩායමේ ප්‍රේක්ෂකයන් ඔවුන්ව Cranes යන අන්වර්ථ නාමයෙන් හඳුන්වනු ලබයි.

කෙසේ නමුත් විස්සයි විස්ස ජාත්‍යන්තර අත්දැකීම 2019 දී ඔවුන් විඳ ගත්තත්,උගන්ඩා කණ්ඩායම ජාත්‍යන්තර ක්‍රිකට් කවුන්සිලයේ සමාජිකත්වය ලබා ගෙන ඇත්තේ 1998 වසර තුළදීය.උගන්ඩාව සතුව ජාත්‍යන්තර ක්‍රිකට් ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමට සුදුසු ක්‍රීඩාංගන දෙකක් මේ වන විට පවතී.මෑත වකවානුව තුළ ඔවුන් විසින් විස්සයි විස්ස පිටියේදී කෙන්යාව, නැම්බියාව, හොංකොන්, ජර්සි වැනි රටවල් පරාජය කිරීමට සමත්වීම පෙරළිකාර ජයග්‍රහණ ලෙස හැඳින්විය හැක.විශේෂයෙන් උගන්ඩාව තුළ උපත ලැබූ ක්‍රීඩකයන් මෙන්ම ඉන්දීය, පකිස්තාන සම්භවයක් ඇති ක්‍රීඩකයන්, ඉන්දියාව, පකිස්තානය, එක්සත් අරාබි එමීරය, දකුණු අප්‍රිකාව, සිම්බාබ්වේ වැනි රටවල් තුළින් පැමිණි ක්‍රීඩකයන් වර්තමානයේ උගන්ඩා කණ්ඩායම සමඟ එක්වී ඇත.

විශේෂයෙන් මෙම වසරේදී ඔවුන් ඔවුන්ගේ ප්‍රථම පෙළ ක්‍රිකට් රටාව දියුණු කර ගනිමින් අනාගතයේ සාර්ථක වීමට පිඹුරුපත් සකස් කරගනිමින් සිටී. දකුණු අෆ්‍රිකානු අවුරුදු දහ නවයෙන් පහළ කණ්ඩායමේ පුහුණුකරුවෙකු ලෙස කටයුතු කළ Lawrence Mahatlane ඔවුන් වසර තුනකට උගන්ඩානු ක්‍රිකට් කණ්ඩායමේ ප්‍රධාන පුහුණුකරු වශයෙන් පත් කරගෙන සිටී.

டி20 கிரிக்கெட் போட்டியால் இன்றைய கிரிக்கெட்டில் போட்டி நாளுக்கு நாள் வளர்ந்து வருகிறது. லீக் கிரிக்கெட் குறித்து சிலர் சில விமர்சனக் கருத்துக்களை தெரிவித்தாலும், பல நாடுகள் டி20 போட்டிகளுடன் சர்வதேச அரங்கில் நுழைந்துள்ளன. இதில் உகாண்டா கிரிக்கெட் அணி தற்போது முன்னோக்கி வருகிறது. அதன்படி, இருபதுக்கு 20 சர்வதேச ஆணையை வென்ற பின்னர், அவர்கள் பங்கேற்ற முப்பத்தாறு போட்டிகளில் இருபத்தி இரண்டு போட்டிகளில் வெற்றி பெற்றுள்ளனர்.

அவர்கள் 2019 இல் சர்வதேச இருபதுக்கு 20 போட்டியை உறுப்பினர் அனுபவித்திருந்தாலும், உகாண்டா அணி 1998 இல் சர்வதேச கிரிக்கெட் கவுன்சிலில் அங்கத்துவம் பெற்றது. உகாண்டாவில் தற்போது சர்வதேச கிரிக்கெட் விளையாடுவதற்கு ஏற்ற இரண்டு மைதானங்கள் உள்ளன. , ஹாங்காங் போன்ற நாடுகளை தோற்கடிப்பதை புரட்சிகரமான சாதனை என்று சொல்லலாம். குறிப்பாக உகாண்டாவில் பிறந்த வீரர்களும், இந்தியா, பாகிஸ்தான் வம்சாவளி வீரர்களும், இந்தியா, பாகிஸ்தான், ஐக்கிய அரபு எமிரேட்ஸ், தென்னாப்பிரிக்கா, ஜிம்பாப்வே போன்ற நாடுகளில் இருந்து வந்த வீரர்களும் தற்போது உகாண்டா அணியில் இணைந்துள்ளனர்.

CPBC Announces Level 1 Professional Boxing Coaching Certification Course in Sri Lanka

The Ceylon Pro Boxing Commission (CPBC) has announced the opening of registrations for its Professional Boxing Coaching Course – Level 1 (Basic Course), scheduled to take place on 21 and 22 November 2026 at the Diyagama Sports Complex.

The two-day certification programme aims to strengthen professional boxing coaching standards in Sri Lanka by providing participants with essential coaching knowledge and practical training opportunities.

The course is open to a wide range of individuals involved in sports, fitness and combat disciplines, including amateur boxing coaches, commercial and private gym instructors, martial arts trainers, personal fitness trainers and boxing practitioners interested in developing their coaching careers.

Internationally Experienced Instructor

The programme will be conducted by Manoj Panwar from India, a qualified boxing coach affiliated with the Indian Boxing Council (IBC).

Panwar currently serves as an Assistant Sports Officer (ASO) and Boxing In-Charge at the Directorate of Education, Chhatrasal Stadium, New Delhi. A former international boxer and certified international ring official, he brings considerable experience in boxing and sports coaching to the programme.

His involvement is expected to provide participants with valuable insights into professional boxing coaching practices and the technical knowledge required to guide athletes.

Professional Certification and Career Opportunities

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive an official CPBC Professional Coaching Certification.

In addition to the certification, successful candidates will be eligible for inclusion in the CPBC Official Registered Coaches Nominal List.

The qualification will also provide opportunities for certified coaches to register professional boxers and affiliate their own boxing clubs and gyms under the Ceylon Pro Boxing Commission.

These opportunities are expected to support individuals seeking professional recognition while contributing to the development of a stronger coaching network within Sri Lanka’s professional boxing structure.

The Professional Boxing Coaching Course – Level 1 will be conducted according to the following details:

Sri Lanka Crowned Runners-Up at Inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026

Sri Lanka’s men’s kabaddi team secured a historic silver medal at the inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026, finishing as runners-up after reaching the tournament final in Ahmedabad, India.

The Sri Lankan team faced hosts India in the men’s final on 31 October at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, where India secured a 54–20 victory to claim the inaugural championship title.

Despite missing out on the gold medal, Sri Lanka’s journey to the final marked a significant achievement for the country’s kabaddi programme on the international stage.

Sri Lanka’s Road to the Final

Sri Lanka demonstrated impressive form throughout the men’s competition, competing against some of the strongest kabaddi nations in the Commonwealth.

The team recorded several important victories during the group stage, including wins against Scotland (53–10), England (50–22), Nigeria (53–14) and Bangladesh (31–20).

Although Sri Lanka suffered a defeat against Kenya and later against India in the group stage, the team progressed to the knockout stages.

In the semi-final, Sri Lanka produced an outstanding performance to overcome Kenya 28–24 in a closely contested encounter, securing their place in the historic final against India.

However, the hosts proved too strong in the final, dominating the contest to secure a 54–20 victory and claim the men’s championship.

Sri Lanka Women Finish with a Medal

Sri Lanka’s women’s team also delivered a commendable campaign at the inaugural championship.

The team recorded victories against Scotland, England and Bangladesh during the group stage, earning a place in the semi-finals.

However, they were unable to overcome India in the last four, going down 39–14.

With the semi-final defeat, Sri Lanka secured a bronze medal in the women’s competition, while Uganda went on to defeat Kenya 23–21 to reach the final.

India subsequently defeated Uganda 35–15 in the women’s final to complete a double championship triumph.

A Historic Championship for Kabaddi

The inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship was held from 23 to 31 October 2026 in Ahmedabad, bringing together 13 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams from across the Commonwealth.

The competition provided a new international platform for kabaddi, bringing together nations from Asia, Africa, Europe and other regions.

India claimed both the men’s and women’s titles, while Sri Lanka finished with silver in the men’s competition and bronze in the women’s event.

Sri Lanka’s performances represent an encouraging milestone for the sport and provide a strong foundation for the continued development of kabaddi in the country.

BALL BLASTER 2026: SRI LANKA’S BIGGEST SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT RETURNS BIGGER THAN EVER

24 Schools, 15 Venues and Three National Trophies as Ball Blaster Enters Its Third Year

COLOMBO — Ball Blaster, Sri Lanka’s premier school football tournament, is set to return in 2026 with its biggest edition yet, organized by Aasgard Sports (Private) Limited in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association and the Ministry of Education.

Now entering its third year, Ball Blaster has grown from 2023 with 20 schools into one of the country’s largest youth football events. The 2025 edition featured 16 schools competing across four groups, drawing national broadcast attention through Sri Lankan Sports TV and PEO TV. For 2026, the tournament expands significantly, with 24 schools set to compete across 15 venues nationwide, in a season spanning six weeks and 84 matches.

A NEW FORMAT: THREE TROPHIES, THREE CHAMPIONS

The standout feature of Ball Blaster 2026 is a new three-tier trophy format. Schools will be drawn into four groups of six, playing a round-robin group stage before advancing into one of three parallel championships based on their group finish: the Cup Trophy for group winners, the Bowl Trophy for runners-up, and the Plate Trophy for second runners-up. The format ensures every participating school remains in contention for a national title deep into the tournament.

All three championships will reach their conclusion on the same finals weekend, with third-place playoffs and grand finals for the Cup, Bowl and Plate trophies all being played at Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.

“Ball Blaster has always been about giving young footballers a stage,” said a spokesperson for Aasgard Sports. “This year, we’re expanding that stage to every corner of the island, and making sure every school that takes part has something real to play for, right to the final whistle.”

BUILDING ON A STRONG 2025

Ball Blaster’s growth has been underpinned by strong sponsor support. The 2025 edition was backed by Lifebuoy as Title Sponsor, alongside Lemonade as Refreshing Partner and Sky Market Travels as Travelling Partner. Organizers say conversations are already underway with returning and new sponsors ahead of the 2026 season, as the tournament’s expanded scale — nationwide venues, a longer season and three separate finals — offers significantly greater visibility for partners.
