Shakib Al Hasan’s position at the top of the T20I all-rounder rankings is now shared with Wanindu Hasaranga, according to the latest ICC rankings.
Shakib dropped three rating points, allowing Hasaranga to catch up and claim the joint first position. This intensifies the competition among all-rounders as the T20 World Cup approaches. The rankings bring good news for Sri Lanka, led by Hasaranga, as they prepare for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Shakib’s rating points decreased after his recent performances against Zimbabwe, while Hasaranga climbed to the top spot. Sikandar Raza from Zimbabwe also made progress, moving up to the fourth position. Among the top 10 all-rounders, Hardik Pandya is the sole representative from India, currently ranked seventh. Hasaranga’s return to the national side after recovering from an injury and skipping IPL 2024 demonstrates his dedication to preparing for the T20 World Cup. Similarly, Shakib al Hasan had been sidelined due to injury and an eye issue since the ODI World Cup in 2023, but he made a comeback in the last two T20Is against Zimbabwe.
