Sri Lanka National Carrom Team to Compete in Sixth Carrom World Cup
The Sri Lankan national carrom team is set to participate in the prestigious Sixth Carrom World Cup, scheduled to be held in San Francisco, California, USA, from November 10th to 17th, 2024. The team, consisting of eight top players, will represent the country in this global tournament, showcasing their skills and aiming for victory against the world’s best carrom talent.
The Sri Lankan contingent includes five male players: Mohammad Shaheed, Anas Ahmed, Kaveen Nimneth Peiris, Dinesh Nishantha Fernando, and three female players: Joseph Roshitha Vaduge, Hirushi Malshani Peiris, Tarushi Himahansika Weerasekera, and Thasmila Kavindi. Ranil Abeysinghe will accompany the team as the manager, ensuring smooth preparations and guiding them through the competition.
As a boost to their preparation, the team has received a Rs. 5 million sponsorship from the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute, supporting their participation in this significant event. The symbolic presentation of this financial assistance was made during a special event held prior to the team’s departure.
The Sri Lankan team is confident and well-prepared, eager to make their mark at the World Cup, where they will compete against top players from around the globe. After participating in a photo session, the team extended their appreciation for the support they received and expressed their determination to bring glory to the country.
