Sri Lanka lasses sweep aside Nepal
ATF 12 & Under Team Competition
Sri Lanka’s young female tennis players demonstrated their strength in the ATF 12 & Under Team Competition by triumphing over Nepal with a 3-0 victory during a group match in Kathmandu.
Sanuthi Liang Wong secured the initial singles victory for Sri Lanka by defeating Sara Panta with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Following this, Sahansa Damsiluni Hewa Pelandage claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win against Anushree Dhoju. The doubles match witnessed Sanuthi Liang Wong and R. Pathiraja Hewawasamge defeating Anushree Dhoju and Aayusha G.C. with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s boys’ team faced Pakistan and suffered a 2-1 loss. Despite the initial setback, Sri Lanka displayed resilience and determination in the subsequent matches, highlighting their competitive spirit and skill on the court.
The ATF 12 & Under Team Competition South Asia 2024 is currently ongoing from 20 to 24 May at the Nepal Tennis Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, Kathmandu. Participating nations include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
