Sri Lanka ‘A’ team tour of South Africa
Sri Lanka A achieved a convincing victory by 93 runs against South Africa A in the first unofficial One Day International held today in Potchefstroom, South Africa. After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted a total of 298 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, with Nuwanidu Fernando leading the scoring with an impressive 97 runs. Kamil Mishara contributed significantly with a score of 71, forming a crucial partnership of 101 runs for the second wicket alongside Fernando, which helped stabilize the innings following an early dismissal. Chamindu Wickramasinghe added valuable runs in the latter stages, scoring 55 runs off 39 deliveries, which included four boundaries and three sixes. In response, South Africa A was dismissed for a mere 205 runs. The Sri Lankan bowling attack was spearheaded by left-arm spinner Wanuja Sahan and leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha, both of whom took three wickets. Wickramasinghe also made his mark, finishing with figures of 1 for 12 in four overs, and played a role in the run-out of captain Tony de Zorzi, who was the sole player to reach fifty in the South African innings.
