Afghanistan to play all-format series against Sri Lanka

Following a decent world cup 2023, Afghanistan is set to play a multi-format series against Sri Lanka staring from 2nd February, the ACB announced.

The series will commence with one-off Test which will be played at the SSC in Colombo from February 2 to 6. The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the three ODIs on February 9, 11 and 14. The teams will then travel to Dambulla for the three T20Is which will be played on February 17, 19 and 21.

The tour of Sri Lanka initially included only the Test and the three T20Is but the ACB held talks with the SLC to facilitate the addition of the three ODIs.

While no official confirmation has yet been issued, the reported developments have already sparked widespread discussion within cricketing and political circles, raising questions about the future direction of the country’s cricket administration.

Asanga Seneviratne was elected as the new President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka following a decisive vote held today, marking a significant leadership change at a crucial juncture for the nation’s sporting landscape.
