A T10 league in Sri Lanka called Lanka T10
Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to start a T10 league in Sri Lanka called Lanka T10 League.
All preparations are underway to launch T10, the fastest form of cricket, in Sri Lanka as well. The tournament is called the Ceylon T10 League and is expected to attract many fans with the changing patterns of cricket.
Sri Lanka’s T10 journey started with the official announcement by the Honorary President of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr Shammi Silva and Honorary Secretary, Mr Mohan De Silva. TTen Global Sports Chairman Shaji Ul Mulk and TTen Global Sports COO Rajeev Khanna were also present on this auspicious occasion.
“The introduction of Sri Lanka’s fastest cricket competition is definitely a great addition to our cricket calendar and we are delighted to be a part of the game’s progress, which continues to evolve with the changing dynamics. I would like to commend the role of TTen Global Sports for this latest initiative in the field of global sports,” said Shammi Silva, Honorary President of Sri Lanka Cricket.
“We are delighted with the launch of the shortest format of the game, the Ceylon T10 League. I am sure that this competition will provide entertainment and excitement to the players, quality competition and valuable exposure to the players. Stakeholders,” said Mr Mohan De Silva, Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket.
ලංකා T10 නමින් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ T10 ලීගයක්
ලංකා T10 ලීගය නමින් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ T10 ලීගයක් ආරම්භ කිරීම ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් ආයතනය විසින් තීරණය කර ඇත.
ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩාවේ වේගවත්ම ආකෘතිය වන T10, ඔවුන් ශ්රී ලංකාවේද ආරම්භ කිරීමට සියලු කටයුතු සූදානම් වෙමින් පවතී. මෙම තරඟාවලිය ලංකා T10 ලීගය ලෙස හඳුන්වනු ලබන අතර වෙනස් වන ක්රිකට් රටාවන් සමඟින් රසික රසිකාවියන් රැසක් ආකර්ෂණය කර ගනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.
ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් ආයතනයේ ගරු සභාපති ෂම්මි සිල්වා මහතා සහ ගරු ලේකම් මොහාන් ද සිල්වා මහතා විසින් නිල ප්රකාශය සිදු කිරීමත් සමඟ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ T10 ගමන ආරම්භ විය. මෙම සුබ අවස්ථාවට TTen Global Sports හි සභාපති Shaji Ul Mulk සහ COO TTen Global Sports රජීව් ඛන්නා ද එක්ව සිටියහ.
“ශ්රී ලංකාවේ වේගවත්ම ක්රිකට් තරගය හඳුන්වාදීම නියත වශයෙන්ම අපගේ ක්රිකට් දින දර්ශනයට විශිෂ්ට එකතු කිරීමක් වන අතර, වෙනස් වන ගතිකත්වයට සමගාමීව අඛණ්ඩව විකාශනය වන ක්රීඩාවේ ඉදිරි ගමනේ කොටස්කරුවෙකු වීමට ලැබීම ගැන අපි සතුටු වෙමු. ගෝලීය ක්රීඩා ක්ෂේත්රය වන අතර, මෙම නවතම වැඩසටහන සඳහා TTen Global Sports විසින් කරන ලද කාර්යභාරය පිළිබඳව මම ප්රශංසා කිරීමට කැමැත්තෙමි, ”ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් හි ගරු සභාපති ෂම්මි සිල්වා මහතා පැවසීය.
“ක්රීඩාවේ කෙටිම ආකෘතිය වන ලංකා T10 ලීගය දියත් කිරීම පිළිබඳව අපි අතිශයින් සතුටු වන අතර, මෙම තරඟය ක්රීඩකයින්ට විනෝදාස්වාදය සහ උද්යෝගය, ක්රීඩකයින්ට ගුණාත්මක තරඟයක් සහ වටිනා නිරාවරණයක් ලබා දෙනු ඇතැයි මට විශ්වාසයි. පාර්ශවකරුවන්” යැයි ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් ආයතනයේ ගරු ලේකම් මොහාන් ද සිල්වා මහතා පැවසීය.
இலங்கையில் லங்கா டி10 எனப்படும் டி10 லீக்
லங்கா டி10 லீக் எனப்படும் டி10 லீக்கை இலங்கையில் தொடங்க இலங்கை கிரிக்கெட் நிறுவனம் முடிவு செய்துள்ளது.
கிரிக்கெட்டின் அதிவேக வடிவமான டி10யை இலங்கையிலும் தொடங்குவதற்கான அனைத்து ஏற்பாடுகளும் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. சிலோன் டி10 லீக் என அழைக்கப்படும் இந்த போட்டியானது கிரிக்கெட்டின் மாறிவரும் வடிவங்களுடன் ரசிகர்களை கவரும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
இலங்கை கிரிக்கெட்டின் கெளரவத் தலைவர் திரு. ஷம்மி சில்வா மற்றும் கௌரவ செயலாளர் திரு. மோகன் டி சில்வா ஆகியோரின் உத்தியோகபூர்வ அறிவிப்போடு இலங்கையின் T10 பயணம் ஆரம்பமானது. TTen குளோபல் ஸ்போர்ட்ஸ் தலைவர் ஷாஜி உல் முல்க் மற்றும் TTen Global Sports COO ராஜீவ் கண்ணா ஆகியோரும் இந்த மகிழ்ச்சியான நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
“இலங்கையின் அதிவேக கிரிக்கெட் போட்டியின் அறிமுகமானது நிச்சயமாக எமது கிரிக்கெட் நாட்காட்டிக்கு ஒரு சிறந்த கூடுதலாகும், மேலும் மாறிவரும் இயக்கவியலுடன் தொடர்ந்து வளர்ச்சியடைந்து வரும் விளையாட்டின் முன்னேற்றத்தின் ஒரு பகுதியாக இருப்பதில் நாங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறோம். உலகளாவிய விளையாட்டுத் துறையில் இந்த சமீபத்திய முயற்சிக்கு TTen Global Sports இன் பங்கை நான் பாராட்ட விரும்புகிறேன்” என்று இலங்கை கிரிக்கெட்டின் கெளரவத் தலைவர் ஷம்மி சில்வா தெரிவித்தார்.
“விளையாட்டின் குறுகிய வடிவமான சிலோன் T10 லீக் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டதில் நாங்கள் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறோம், மேலும் இந்த போட்டி வீரர்களுக்கு பொழுதுபோக்கு மற்றும் உற்சாகம், தரமான போட்டி மற்றும் வீரர்களுக்கு மதிப்புமிக்க வெளிப்பாடு ஆகியவற்றை வழங்கும் என்று நான் உறுதியாக நம்புகிறேன். பங்குதாரர்கள்” என இலங்கை கிரிக்கெட்டின் கௌரவ செயலாளர் திரு. மோகன் டி சில்வா தெரிவித்தார்.
Sri Lanka Cricket decided to dedicate the ‘Major Club Women’s 50-Over Tournament’ in memory of the late Gwen Herat, the founding president of the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Association.
This decision has been made in recognition of the outstanding service rendered by Mrs. Herat towards the founding of Women’s Cricket Association in the country.
It was under her leadership that the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Association was established in 1997, where she served as its founding president.
Accordingly, in memory of her from 2026 onwards, the Major Club Women’s 50-Over
Tournament will be named the Gwen Herat Memorial Trophy.
“The significant role played by the late Mrs. Gwen Herat in laying the foundation for women’s cricket is well remembered by the cricketing fraternity. By naming a tournament in her honor, Sri Lanka Cricket aims to preserve her legacy for future generations,” said Mr. Bandula
Dissanayake.
Marking this significant initiative, the family of Mrs. Gwen Herat presented a trophy to Sri Lanka Cricket, which will be awarded to the champions of future editions of the tournament.
The handover was carried out by Mrs. Herat’s family members, including her daughters, Shamarra Herat and Parveen Herat, and her son, Avancka Herat.
The Gwen Herat Memorial Trophy was officially handed over to Mr. Bandula Dissanayake, Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, in the presence of Mr. Ashley de Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, and distinguished guests Mr. Chandra Schaffter and Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya.

Bandara, Head of Marketing at SLC, also were present at the ceremony, which took place at SLC last week.
Sri Lanka Cricket could be on the verge of a major leadership shake-up, with reports suggesting that President Shammi Silva is expected to resign from his post on Wednesday, potentially ending a seven-year tenure at the helm of the governing body.
According to a report published by Daily Mirror, Silva’s anticipated resignation follows a request from the government, signaling possible political involvement in the administration of the sport.
The report further indicates that former Member of Parliament and State Minister Eran Wickramaratne is likely to be appointed as the Interim President of Sri Lanka Cricket, should Silva step down as expected.
Silva, who was first elected to the position in February 2019, has maintained his leadership through multiple election victories, overseeing Sri Lanka Cricket during a period marked by both challenges and transitions.
While no official confirmation has yet been issued, the reported developments have already sparked widespread discussion within cricketing and political circles, raising questions about the future direction of the country’s cricket administration.
Sri Lanka’s rising javelin sensation Rumesh Tharanga delivered a remarkable performance on the international stage, clinching gold at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi with a stunning meet record throw of 89.28 metres.
Competing against an elite field, Tharanga outshone some of the sport’s biggest names, including Olympic champion Thomas Röhler and Kenya’s celebrated Olympic silver medallist and world champion Julius Yego. His victory marks one of the most significant achievements in Sri Lankan athletics in recent years.
The triumph is further highlighted by Tharanga’s consistency, as this is his second throw exceeding 89 metres within a month. Such performances signal his growing dominance and position him firmly among the world’s top javelin throwers this season.
