A new tourism promotion project from Mr Sanath Jayasuriya
Sri Lanka’s former captain Mr Sanath Jayasuriya has decided to start a new promotional project with the aim of promoting tourism in Sri Lanka.
A Sri Lanka tourism promotion event has been organized in the United Kingdom (UK) on Saturday, February 25, 2023, under the chairmanship of Sri Lankan Tourism Ambassador and former Sri Lankan cricketer Mr Sanath Jayasuriya.
It is organized in association with the Midlands Ceylonese and Brits Foundation, which was established to support Sri Lanka through the collective efforts of the Sri Lankan and British communities in the UK.
‘#SriLankaCan’ is a project spearheaded by the former cricketer to promote tourism in Sri Lanka and reinvigorate the island’s growth plans.
The event will focus on promoting Sri Lanka as the world’s number 1 tourist destination, bringing together Sri Lankan entrepreneurs to support Sri Lanka’s rebuilding process, targeting areas of the island to reinvigorate growth plans and engaging British communities. Actively supports projects in Sri Lanka
සනත් ජයසූරිය මහතාගෙන් නව සංචාරක ප්රවර්ධන ව්යාපෘතියක්
ශ්රී ලංකා හිටපු නායක සනත් ජයසූරිය මහතා ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරක ව්යාපාරය ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීමේ අරමුණින් නවතම ප්රවර්ධන ව්යාපෘතියක් ආරම්භ කිරීමට තීරණය කර ඇත.
ශ්රී ලංකා සංචාරක තානාපති සහ හිටපු ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩක සනත් ජයසූරිය මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් 2023 පෙබරවාරි 25 සෙනසුරාදා එක්සත් රාජධානියේ (UK) ශ්රී ලංකා සංචාරක ප්රවර්ධන උත්සවයක් සංවිධානය කර ඇත.
එය එක්සත් රාජධානියේ ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් සහ බ්රිතාන්ය ප්රජාවන්ගේ සාමූහික ප්රයත්නය තුළින් ශ්රී ලංකාවට සහාය දැක්වීමේ අරමුණින් පිහිටුවන ලද Midlands Ceylonese and Brits පදනම සමඟ එක්ව සංවිධානය කර ඇත.
‘#SriLankaCan’ යනු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරක ව්යාපාරය ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීම සහ දිවයිනේ වර්ධන සැලසුම් යළි ප්රබෝධමත් කිරීම සඳහා හිටපු ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩකයා විසින් මෙහෙයවන ලද ව්යාපෘතියකි.
ශ්රී ලංකාව ලෝකයේ අංක 01 සංචාරක ගමනාන්තය ලෙස ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීම, ශ්රී ලංකාව නැවත ගොඩනැඟීමේ ක්රියාවලියට සහාය වීම සඳහා ශ්රී ලාංකික ව්යවසායකයින් එක්රැස් කිරීම, වර්ධන සැලසුම් යළි ප්රබෝධමත් කිරීම සඳහා දිවයිනේ ප්රදේශ ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් උත්සව පැවැත්වීම සහ බ්රිතාන්ය ප්රජාවන් යොදා ගැනීම පිළිබඳව මෙම උත්සවය අවධානය යොමු කරයි. ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ව්යාපෘති සඳහා සක්රියව සහාය දක්වයි.

இலங்கை சுற்றுலாத் தூதுவரும் முன்னாள் இலங்கை கிரிக்கெட் வீரருமான திரு.சனத் ஜெயசூரிய தலைமையில் 2023 பெப்ரவரி 25 சனிக்கிழமையன்று ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தில் (UK) இலங்கை சுற்றுலா ஊக்குவிப்பு நிகழ்வு ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இது Midlands Ceylonese and Brits Foundation உடன் இணைந்து ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது, இது ஐக்கிய இராச்சியத்தில் உள்ள இலங்கை மற்றும் பிரித்தானிய சமூகங்களின் கூட்டு முயற்சியின் மூலம் இலங்கைக்கு ஆதரவளிப்பதற்காக நிறுவப்பட்டது.

Sri Lanka Cricket could be on the verge of a major leadership shake-up, with reports suggesting that President Shammi Silva is expected to resign from his post on Wednesday, potentially ending a seven-year tenure at the helm of the governing body.
According to a report published by Daily Mirror, Silva’s anticipated resignation follows a request from the government, signaling possible political involvement in the administration of the sport.
The report further indicates that former Member of Parliament and State Minister Eran Wickramaratne is likely to be appointed as the Interim President of Sri Lanka Cricket, should Silva step down as expected.
Silva, who was first elected to the position in February 2019, has maintained his leadership through multiple election victories, overseeing Sri Lanka Cricket during a period marked by both challenges and transitions.
While no official confirmation has yet been issued, the reported developments have already sparked widespread discussion within cricketing and political circles, raising questions about the future direction of the country’s cricket administration.
Sri Lanka’s rising javelin sensation Rumesh Tharanga delivered a remarkable performance on the international stage, clinching gold at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi with a stunning meet record throw of 89.28 metres.
Competing against an elite field, Tharanga outshone some of the sport’s biggest names, including Olympic champion Thomas Röhler and Kenya’s celebrated Olympic silver medallist and world champion Julius Yego. His victory marks one of the most significant achievements in Sri Lankan athletics in recent years.
The triumph is further highlighted by Tharanga’s consistency, as this is his second throw exceeding 89 metres within a month. Such performances signal his growing dominance and position him firmly among the world’s top javelin throwers this season.
Asanga Seneviratne was elected as the new President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka following a decisive vote held today, marking a significant leadership change at a crucial juncture for the nation’s sporting landscape.
Seneviratne, who also heads the Sri Lanka Baseball Softball Association, secured a clear majority with 16 votes. His closest contender, Jaswar Umar, garnered 11 votes, while Shirantha Peiris received 2.
The election outcome places Seneviratne at the helm of the country’s premier Olympic body as Sri Lanka intensifies preparations for a series of upcoming regional and international competitions.
His appointment is expected to play a key role in shaping the direction of national sports development and strengthening the country’s presence on the global stage.
