A complaint against the football administration from the former president

Published

on

Former President Mr Anura de Silva has complained to the Minister of Sports that the selection committee has violated several new sports regulations regarding the nominations submitted for the football selection to be held on the 14th.

Accordingly, in his complaint, it has been stated that there is doubt regarding the decision taken regarding the acceptance of the nomination of this year’s presidential candidate Mr Jaswar Umar.

Under the new Sports Act enacted by the Minister of Sports, Section 31, Section 41 of Act No. 25 of 1973 was renewed and it was found that Mr Jaswar Umar had been recommended as guilty of a charge under “disqualifications for holding office in a sports association”, so his nomination was accepted. There is doubt about how.

Mr Anura de Silva has also asked about the fact that if certain decisions were changed according to the new act in this election, why was this issue not addressed?

Currently, the Ministry of Sports has asked for an appeal of Rs. 50 000 will be charged, while earlier this amount was Rs. 6000 In case the appeal is accepted as correct, the amount will be refunded.

It was noticeable that 24 of the 43 nominations submitted for 11 positions in the Executive Committee were rejected for the election to be held on January 14.

At the same time, all the nominations for the posts of Assistant-Treasurer and Assistant-Secretary were rejected.
