University of Peradeniya stickers emerge Champions at the Men’s X1V SLUG Hockey Championship 2023
University of Peradeniya stickers emerged as Champions with a ( 2/1) win against the University of Kelaniya on penalty strokes, after the match ended in a thrilling 1 all draw at the end of full time of play, in the final of the men’s X1V Sri-Lanka University Games, Hockey Championship 2023, played at the Peradeniya University ground, Peradeniya, Kandy last week.
In their group matches played, they beat the University of Eastern by 7 goals to nil and lost to the University of Ruhuna by 1 goal to nil. Qualifying to the quarter-final stage, they beat the University of Colombo by 2 goals to nil, and in the semi-final, they beat the University of Rajarata by 4 goals to 1.
Qualifying to the final, losing only to the University of Ruhuna in their group match, stickers of the University of Peradeniya bounced back to pocket the X1V SLUG championship 2023, with a win against Universit of Kelaniya on penalty strokes, after the match ended in a thrilling 1all draw at full time of play, in a keenly contested encounter.
A.B. Godigamuwa has showcased his skills, as one of the best coaches in the district of Kandy, and proved his talents to guide, the University of Peradeniya to win this X1V SLUG championship for the year 2023.

Sri Lanka will kick off their Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship 2025 Pool A campaign this Friday (13th June) at ARMC #1 in Colombo, taking on higher-ranked South Korea in a crucial Round 1 encounter.

The much-anticipated ICC World Test Championship Final 2025 kicked off at Lord’s with South Africa taking early control by reducing Australia to 67/4 at lunch on Day 1.
After winning the toss and electing to field first under overcast conditions, South Africa’s pace attack made immediate inroads into Australia’s top order. Marco Jansen was the pick of the bowlers in the opening session, claiming 2 wickets for 27 runs in 7.2 overs. Wiaan Mulder offered excellent support, keeping things tight with 3 maidens in his 6-over spell.
