Viiking were struggling at the start of the innings but when Shanaka came to the middle match was started to turn around by putting up a partnership over 100 runs with Patel.

Playing an explosive role Shanaka scored 73 runs in 37 balls (8 fours and 4 sixes) as the captain. His partner Patel scored 58 runs in 38 balls (5 fours and 2 sixers).

In balling, Asela Gunaratne took two wickets in three overs giving 20 runs and Naveen took tickets for 42 runs in his 4 overs.

With all this, first innings score ended up as 195/4

In the chase, Kandy Tuskers lose their captain for 4 runs in the second over and explosive batsman Gurbaz in the sixth over. This made the Tuskers in the backseat.
