2023 Rugby World Cup on public display in Sri Lanka

In the history of Sri Lankan rugby, the sports fans of Sri Lanka have had the opportunity to experience the unique opportunity of bringing a Rugby World Cup to Sri Lanka.

It was recently announced that the 2023 Rugby World Cup has been brought to Sri Lanka. France is hosting the World Cup this year, and this World Cup will be on public display for 6 days until February 23.

This trophy, which was brought to Sri Lanka for a period of 6 days, will be put on public display on February 19 at Kolaba CR & FC and on February 22 at Knady Sports Club in Kandy.

The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mr Roshan Ranasinghe said, “The opportunity to bring a Rugby World Cup to Sri Lanka for the first time is a unique opportunity for rugby fans as well as all Sri Lankans.”

ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය රග්බි ක්‍රීඩා ඉතිහාසයේ රග්බි ලෝක කුසලානයක් මෙරටට ගෙන ඒමේ සුවිශේෂී අවස්ථාව මෙරට ක්‍රීඩා ලෝලීන් හට අත් විදීමට අවස්ථාව උදා වී ඇත.

2023 රග්බි ලෝක කුසලානය මෙරටට ගෙන බවට පසුගියදා නිවේදනය කරන ලදී. මෙවර ලෝක කුසලානයේ සත්කාරකත්වය ප්‍රංශය දරන අතර, මෙම ලෝක කුසලානය පෙබරවාරි 23 දක්වා දින 6ක කාලයක් මහජන ප්‍රදර්ශනය සදහා තබනු ඇත.

දින 6ක කාලයක් සදහා මෙරටට ගෙන එන ලැබූ මෙම කුසලානය පෙබරවාරි 19 වන දින කොළබ CR & FC හිදී ත් පෙබරවාරි 22 වන දින මහනුවර Knady Sports Club හි දීත් මහජන ප්‍රදර්ශනයට තැබීමට නියමිතය.

ක්‍රීඩා හා යෞවන කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය රොෂාන් රණසිංහ මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියේ ” රග්බි ලෝක කුසලානයක් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ප්‍රථම වරට ගෙන එන ලැබූ අවස්ථාව රග්බි ක්‍රීඩා ලෝලීන්ට මෙන්ම සමස්ථ ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන්ටම ලද සුවිශේෂී අවස්ථාවක් බවය. “

இலங்கை ரக்பி வரலாற்றில், இலங்கைக்கு ரக்பி உலகக் கிண்ணத்தை கொண்டு வரும் தனித்துவமான வாய்ப்பை இலங்கையின் விளையாட்டு ரசிகர்கள் அனுபவிக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்துள்ளது.

2023 ரக்பி உலகக் கிண்ணம் இலங்கைக்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அண்மையில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. பிரான்ஸ் இந்த ஆண்டு உலகக் கோப்பையை நடத்துகிறது, மேலும் இந்த உலகக் கோப்பை பிப்ரவரி 23 வரை 6 நாட்கள் பொதுக் காட்சிக்கு வைக்கப்படும்.

6 நாட்களுக்கு இலங்கைக்கு கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட இந்த கிண்ணம் பெப்ரவரி 19 ஆம் திகதி கொலபா CR & FC மைதானத்திலும், பெப்ரவரி 22 ஆம் திகதி கண்டி Knady Sports Club லும் பொதுமக்கள் பார்வைக்காக வைக்கப்படவுள்ளது.

விளையாட்டு மற்றும் இளைஞர் விவகார அமைச்சர் திரு.ரொஷான் ரணசிங்க, “இலங்கையில் ரக்பி உலகக் கிண்ணத்தை முதன்முறையாகக் கொண்டுவரும் வாய்ப்பு, ரக்பி ரசிகர்களுக்கும், அனைத்து இலங்கையர்களுக்கும் கிடைத்த அரிய வாய்ப்பாகும்” என்றார்.

Asanga Seneviratne was elected as the new President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka following a decisive vote held today, marking a significant leadership change at a crucial juncture for the nation’s sporting landscape.

LPL Sixth Edition to Be Played Across Four Venues from July 10 to August 5

The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to take place from July 10 to August 5, 2026, promising another exciting season of top-quality Twenty20 cricket. As Sri Lanka’s premier domestic T20 competition with a strong international presence, the tournament continues to attract both local and overseas talent.

This year’s matches will be held across four venues: Sinhalese Sports Club Ground (SSC), R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS), Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (PICS), and Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS). These iconic grounds are expected to provide a vibrant atmosphere and excellent playing conditions throughout the competition.

The online registration portal for foreign players will officially open on May 4, 2026, allowing international cricketers to sign up and participate in the league. This step ensures the continuation of LPL’s global appeal, as overseas players add competitiveness and diversity to the tournament.
