Shiromal and Riuad steers Colombo Masters

 ” B ” to win Double Wicket tourney

Gihan Shiromal and Riuad Fowzie steered Colombo Masters ” B ” to emerge as Champions at the Lanka Heritage Cricket Club’s over-50 inaugural Double Wicket tournament, played at the Colombo Colts Cricket ground, Colombo- 05 recently. 

At the final, Colombo Masters ” B ” edged out Sinhalese Sports Club by seven runs. The pair Gihan Shiromal and Riuad Fowzie scored 22 runs and restricted their opponents, Sinhalese Sports Club for 15 runs.

Earlier at the quarter finals, Colombo Masters 

” B ” beat Chance Sports while Old Ben’s beat Mercantile Cricket Association. The other quarter final match between Colombo Masters ” A ” and PCU ended in a tie and PCU were declared as winners with a higher number of boundaries scored. In the last quarter final game, Sinhalese Sports Club beat Moratuwa Sports Club. 

At the semi final,  Sinhalese Sports Club beat Old Ben’s by six runs while Colombo Masters  ” B ” beat PCU by seven runs to enter the final of this inaugural double wicket tournament. 

Lanka Heritage Cricket Club’s President Jayantha Seneviratne,  the former Sri Lankan Cricketer said that they hope to continue with this tournament as an annual event. Chryshantha Obeysekera, a former President of the Mercantile Cricket Association was the distinguished Chief Guest at this inaugural double wicket tournament.
