The Sri Lanka’s first ever Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament Lanka Premier League 2020 Grand Final Galle Gladiators vs Jaffna Stallions.
If we see Galle Gladiators, who qualified for the Semi-finals from bottom of the table and beat the strongest Colombo Kings in the last over of the semi’s to qualified to the final. Shahid Afridi is the one who captain the team in group stage but unfortunately he had to go back to Pakistan by leaving the tournament for his personal reasons.
Now lets see about Jaffna Stallions, they were the one who is dominated the tournament in the early stage under the captaincy of Thisara Perera who scored 97 runs for Dambulla Viikings. Further, JS were struggled in the middle of the tournament and got qualified for the semifinals in the 3rd place out of 4 teams. Moreover, Stallions faced Dambulla Viiking in the Semifinals and won the match comprehensively to qualify for the final. The main strategy of the Stallions is rested some players in the middle of the tournament once they qualified for the semifinals.
In the grand final JS won the toss and elected bat, anyhow JS was expecting some fireworks from the openers and it was delivered in first two overs but with the wicket of Charles it was controlled by the GG very well with experience of Amir.
In the middle overs Malik and Dhananjaya put up a 50+ partnership by dominating the spinners and in the depth overs captain Thisara went after the ballers and scored 38 run in 14 balls and took his team to 188 for six wickets.
Gladiators need 189 runs in 20 overs to be the first ever LPL champions. But Gladiators loss the first wicket in the first over and lost the Mr. Consistent Dhanushka Gunathilake for one run in a run out.
In the power play Gladiators only able to score 30 runs for 3 wickets. But captain Bhanuka was exceptional with the injury he scored 40 runs in 17b (3 fours and 4 sixes).
In the middle overs, Azam Khan played a cameo but he got out for going after the Oliver for the 3rd big hit of the over, even after scoring two sixes.
In chase, Stallion’s were dominating Gladiators over the innings not letting them to hit towards the bawlers in any circumstances and path the way to inaugural LPL win by 53 runs.
