Isipathana College under 14 Hockey team clinch ” Gold Star” for the 2nd consecutive year.

Isipathana College Colombo under 14 Hockey team was awarded a ” Gold Star ” for the 2nd consecutive year by emerging as Champions in group ” B ” at this year’s boys all Island Schools Hockey tournament 2023, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Hockey Association, under the guidance and supervision of the Ministry of Education, played at the University of Peradeniya ground Kandy last week. 

Isipathana College under 14 Hockey team Captained by Mandiv Ranasinghe, who also had the distinction of leading the side last year clinched a ” Gold Star ” by emerging as Champions from group ” F ” at the boys all Island Schools Hockey tournament held in Matale 2022.

In this year’s tournament and their 1st match, they beat  Zahira College Matale by 1 goal to nil with H.R. Hirun Lindula netting the goal, in their 2nd match,  they beat Vijitha College Galle  by 6 goals to nil with skipper Mandiv Ranasinghe netting 3 goals, A.M.M. Saad netting 2 goals and Naqib Zaffarulla netting a goal, in their 3rd match, they beat Bandaranayake College Gampaha by 3 goals to nil with skipper Mandiv Ranasinghe, A.M.M. Saad and H.R. Hirun Lindula netting a goal each, in their 4th match, they beat D.S. Senanayake College Colombo by 3 goals to nil with A.M.M. Saad netting 2 goals and skipper

Mandiv Ranasinghe netted a goal to see them emerging as the Champions in group ” B ” to clinch the “Gold Star  ” award this year too at the boy’s Island Hockey Tournament 2023.

MIC, R.J A. Nayana Padmakumari, Head Coach Praveen Chanaka and Assistant Coach Vishwa Udayanga, their efforts and guidance helped these youngsters to achieve the ” Gold Star ” award for the 2nd consecutive year, which is a remarkable performance showcased by these youngsters.
