Hameed Al Husseinie College Colombo got qualified to the final of the Renown President Schools under 18 Boys division 1 all Island Football Championship 2023 beating St. Patrick’s College Jaffna by 5 goals to 2, sponsored by Renown Football Academy, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Football Association, under the guidance and supervision of the Ministry of Education, played at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.
Hameed Al Husseinie College Colombo drawn from group ” B ” along with St. Benedict’s College Kotahena, Royal College Colombo, Maris Stella College Negombo and Maliyadeva Model School Kurunegala emerged as the Champions in their respective group and entered to the knock out quarters stage.
In the quarter final, Hameed Al Husseinie College Colombo beat St. Henry’s College Jaffna, who were the runner up of group
” B ” by 1 goal to nil in a keenly contested encounter to qualify for the semi final and beat St. Patrick’s College Jaffna, who were the runner up of group ” D ” by 5 goals to 2 to qualify for the final of the Renown President under 18 Boys division 1 all Island Football Championship 2023.
Hameed Al Husseinie College Colombo opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the first half from the boot of A.F.M. Arham and St. Patrick’s College Jaffna came back strongly to score in the 35th minute of the first half from the boot of A. Abiram to make it 1 all. Hameed Al Husseinie College scored their 2nd goal in the 43rd minute of the first half from the boot of M.R. Athiq from a penalty kick to lead by 2 goals to 1 at half time.
In the 10th minute of the second half ( 55th minute of play ), A F.M Arham scored his 2nd goal to give them a lead by 3 goals to 1. S.M.Hassan scored the 4th goal in minute 40th minute of the second half (85th minute of play ) and C.Siyam scoring for St. Patrick’s College Jaffna in the 42nd minute of the second half (87 th minute of play) to reduce the score to 4 goals to 2. Z.M. Ziyard coming as a substitute scored the 5th goal for Hameed Al Husseinie in the last minute ( 90th minute of play ) to read the final score as 5 goal to 2 to see them through to the final of the Renown President Schools under 18 Boys division 1 all Island Football Championship 2023.
